Author, Build Your Dream Network
As a connector and networking expert, Kelly Hoey has been lauded by many organisations, from Forbes (Five Women Changing the World of VC/Entrepreneurship) to Fast Company (25 Smartest Women On Twitter). She has a column on Inc.com, blogs on myturnstone.com and tweets frequently (@jkhoey).
Hoey’s career story is one of transformation, and can only be explained by her unique ability to tap into networks and make valuable connections. Her career started in corporate law, eventually moving to the management side of big law. A chance opportunity in 2009 to work with a visionary leader sparked her transition from earning a pay cheque to seeking equity.
Co-founding a start-up accelerator, as well as an interim CMO role with an emerging tech company, are part of her journey of reinvention as an author, influencer and investor.
In addition to her portfolio of angel investments (Levo League, Hullabalu, Smigin, CloudPeeps, flowthings.io), she is an LP in two funds (Laconia Capital Group and Lattice Ventures) and an adviser to New Zealand Trade and Enterprise.
On top of these professional pursuits, Hoey is the chief tech ambassador for the YWCA of NYC’s Girls Geek Club.
