Director of ICT programmes, Enterprise Ireland
Dr Carol Gibbons is the director of ICT programmes and manager of the electronics sector at Enterprise Ireland, the Government agency responsible for the growth of Irish-owned businesses in global markets. She has held a number of senior roles in Enterprise Ireland, Forfás and IDA Ireland, spanning a 17-year career. Her earlier days were spent in London and the US, working in R&D and research commercialisation.
Gibbons has considerable experience in a variety of industries, most notably the ICT sector, where she works directly with some of Ireland’s best-known ICT brands; from very early-stage start-up companies, right through to globally trading multinational businesses.
As a senior investment adviser, she has managed a portfolio of clients in Enterprise Ireland’s commercial evaluation division and its equity department (one of the largest equity portfolios in Europe, in terms of deal flow). Most recently, she was a member of Enterprise Ireland’s Change Programme team, developing a new business model to implement the organisation’s business strategy for 2017-2020.
Gibbons is passionate about Ireland’s research landscape and its ability to produce companies that can scale to become world-class leaders.
